Dear scholar friends,

शब्द in शब्दानुशासन is not a "word" but a cognizable acoustic unit, it is a compounding of

वर्ण, which are 42 in number. (no experiment has been done to get an anatomical number,

42 is most likely derived from the Vedas). वर्ण is अक्षर, but is enhanced with स्वर. स्वर is local

and is analog. स्वर presents the भाव, thus we have छन्द. These concepts are unique to

Panini. The philosophical belief and our empirical observation is that speech has life and

"words" are not labels.
