Indrakshi japam source background

Dear Vidvans

Yesterday evening around 930 pm Sankara TV posted a rendition of Indrakshi japam by Ganesh ghanapatigal and team for healing the world of Corona.

Recently a similar japam was held at an aunt's house to heal a cousin of mine who is seriously ill.

Could the vidvans share source, history and usage of Indrakshi stotram as applied in private and public contexts?

Indrakshi Stotram and Siva Kavacham are recited with Sandhyavandam in Smarta homes. Indrakshi Stotram is a favourite of the Kashmir Pandits also. 

Janaki Nath Kaul has translated it -

In this book he says there is no source known for Indrakshi Stotram. But it must have a Tantric origin.

I have been reciting it for sometime now but I find many paaTha bhedas. I have been told that a version in grantha lipi is the most authentic of all the different paaThas currently available

Some synchronicity right here...as I open this mail to answer, there is the chanting of Indraakshi happening on Sankara again!

Shri Venkatesh ji-> It seems the chanting of Indraakshi and Siva Kavacham might be one of those practices that came in specific lineages. It must have been individually added to one's sadhana paddhati like Aditya Hrdayam

Shri Harissh ji--> Could you please list out the paatha bhedas, so that some of the other scholars can weigh in with views on authenticity?

I believe a similar paatha bheda exists with the Shri suktam....("aardhraam pushkariniim.....chandraam hiraNmayiim lakshmiim jaatavedo ma aavaha")
