एके अनेके अनेकम्

नमो विद्वद्भ्यः

एके - अनेके - अनेकम्

एके मुख्यान्यकेवलाः -- अमरः ।

In शास्त्रs. while discussing an aspect where there is difference of opinion , the term एके is used .

Here is the question - एके  is in plural . Now can we make नञ्समास and use a word like अनेके ? 

This is in light of the fact that पाणिनि nowhere uses this word अनेके but employs the term अनेकम् , instead 'अनेकम् अन्यपदार्थे’ पा 2-2-24 .

Now the question is whether usages like 'पतन्त्यनेके जलधेरिवोर्मयः’ (जनाः इति शेषः) quoted in भूषणसार (नञर्थविचार) and commented - इत्यादिकमपि सूपपादम् ।

In उद्योत on नञ् पा 2-2-6 , Nagesabhatta says - आरोपितैकत्ववत्त्वेनैव बोधाच्च एकवचनसिद्धिः । एवं च अनेके इति बहुवचनम् असाध्वेवेति बोध्यमिति मञ्जूषायां विस्तरः ।

In लघुमञ्जूषा  (निपातार्थविचारः - नञर्थविचारः) he says -- पतन्त्यनेके इत्याद्यसाध्वेव ।

So when one wants to denote बहुवचनम् he should use अनेकम् but not अनेके । The नञ् would have विश्रान्ति in each one of them .
