Sir, I feel immense pain to inform you all that my only child my daughter Ms. Sevanti Sinha, M. A. M. Phil. Ph.D. scholar and Assistant Professor of Sanskrit in a college in Kolkata, left for her heavenly abode on 03. 95. 2021 at the age of only 33 being affected by CORONA 19.. She was a member of your highly esteemed Group and she received immense help and assistance from your Group during her M. Phil and Ph. D course. Before her helpless demise she composed some books on Sanskrit Shastras which have duly been published. As I am an old Iman, I don't know how to preserve those books, I, therefore, would be ever grateful if any one of you kindly assist me by giving me information about how I can upload those books to archive.org. With regards, Ashis Sinha.

Ashis Sinha ji

Though I am aware of this sad incident, reading about it again saddens me enormously. May Isvara give you the strength and wisdom to deal with this loss.

Given below are the steps to upload a book to archive.org

Prerequisites
1. You will need a scan of the book, preferably as a .pdf file. You can also use page-wise scans.
2. You will need an account an Archive.org (If you do not have one, please visit the page https://archive.org/account/login.createaccount.php and enter your details (email address, screen name - this will be your public name - and choose a password), agree to their terms and then click on "sign up".

Procedure
Once you have the scans and a login account, log into your account

1. click the “Upload” button (top-right).

2. Click “Upload Files”, then drag your PDF or .zip file into the box.

3. Fill in the Details. You’ll be asked for:
Title of the book
Description (a short summary or note)
Creator (author’s name)
Date (year of publication)
Language
License (choose “Public Domain” or a Creative Commons license if applicable)

4. Click “Upload and Create Item”
Once you hit that button, the Internet Archive will process your file and generate different formats (like ePub or text). This may take a few minutes.

After Upload, you will  get a permanent link to your book’s page. You can share it with anyone.

This 2-minutes video How to Upload to Archive.Org demonstrates the process.

I hope the above instructions are clear and that you will succeed in uploading the books that you desire to upload.

Regards
N. Siva Senani
