It is heartening to see five Sanskrit scholars are being honored with the Padma Awards. The DNA report rightly said - The focus of this year's Padma awards, according to the officials in the Home Ministry, was on recognising talent of unknown and unsung heroes of the country. Kudos to the nominating team which nominated them. The awardees' list looks elegant, embellished by our dear Sanskrit scholars. Movie artists, rather the 'stars/celebrities,' did not appear in the list! What a beauty after several years.

Sri Chamu Krishna Shastry Ji richly deserves this award for making spoken Sanskrit his life mission. Under his inspiring guidance, Samskrita Bharati, anchored firmly the cherished Indian values of Sanskrit into the lifestyle of masses and elite circle as well. This is a befitting honor to the dedicated, passionate scholars at Aksharam and thousands of SB volunteers in India and abroad. What could be a better occasion than this? Hope, the list may continue further with many such unsung heroes contributing in different fields.

Prof. Michel Danino equally deserves this award as his contributions in ancient Indian archeology and history, ancient Indian S&T besides his ongoing contributions to ICHR, did not go unnoticed.

I would be delighted to receive information about and evaluation of the contributions of Deviprasad Dwivedi (UP) and Harihar Kripalu Tripathi (UP) — information beyond what one gets through googling or Wikipedia and evaluation from qualified specialists. 

I think a more appropriate honour for Chamu [-Krishna Shastry (Delhi) would have been Padma Bhushan. The magnitude of the network he has built, the vision he has shown and the steadfastness with which he has pursued his objective deserve a higher recognition. Anyway, hearty congratulations to him and to Dr Michel Danino (Tamil Nadu), from whose way of dealing with history the young Sanskritists of India have much to learn.

I did not notice the typo until you pointed it out. Even if I had noticed it earlier, my reaction to it, in view of the elation you gave rise to through your appreciation of Pt. Ca. Mū. Krishna Sastry’s work, would have been similar to the reaction I expressed in a 1963/1964 verse:

The Spoken Sanskrit movement - which started around '70's with a statement like ' अयं दीप:'- has achieved the mission- prajvaalito jnanamayah pradeepaH' !

Michel Daninos writings have provided the right footing to review the need for ground archaeology research and native studies initiative to rewrite the itihaasa of Bhaarateeyas. Congradulations Danino. There are many more Dholaviras to explore!
