Birth anniversary for his contribution in the field of Vyakarana and NLP
(Natural Language Processing). on this occasion the Department of Sanskrit
Studies and the Center for Applied Linguistics, University of Hyderabad are
going to organize a Two Days colloquium. So request u all to participate

*A two day Colloquium to mark the 25 years of NLP research in India with*

    *Pāṇinian Perspective*

The NLP activities in India and Sanskrit studies took a new direction some
25 years back when the Sanskrit scholars and the Computer Scientists joined
hands and started working together with a common goal of building a Machine
Translation systems. During this process, many linguists joined the main
stream of NLP research, the community grew, the research areas broadened
both in quality and the quantity.

Prof. K.V.Ramakrishnamacharyulu, a founding member of this community joined
this team with his treasure of Sanskrit grammar. With a vision to open new
vistas and an open mindedness to adapt to the new challanges, he made
important contributions to the establishment and growth of a new discipline
and also created confidence among the NLP researchers for the application
of the Indian grammatical tradition to the emerging technologies. He is one
of the key members of the Akshar Bharati group and has contributed directly
to the development of various computational tools for Indian languages. He
was instrumental in providing guidelines for developing annotation schemes
for Sanskrit and Hindi (which are being extended to other Indian Languages
    as well) following Paninian Grammar.

Interestingly, Prof. K.V.Ramakrishnamacharyulu attains 65 years at a time
which coincides with the 25 years of NLP activities in India. On this

Kalpa Heritage Trust is organising a 2-day National Seminar on SHULBA
SUTRAS at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore on the 1st and 2nd of September
2012. As you are aware, Shulba Sutras are part of Kalpa Sutras and deal
with specifications for the construction of Vedic Sacrificial
Chitis(Altars). Specifications are drawn based on the use of Shulba(String)
to arrive at different shapes such as Rhombus,Garuda,Kurma etc. It is
believed that the Sutrakaras had comprehended the principles of the
Pythagoras theorem, the value of Pi and approximations of Root of 2,
conversion of square to rectangle, circle etc.

There are eight Shulba Sutras presently extant namely, Apastamba,
Baudhayana, Hiranyakesi, Manava, Varaha, Maitrayaniya, Vadhula and
Katyayana.Varaha and Vadhula are in manuscript form while the rest are in
    the print form.
The trust invites traditional scholars as well as academicians/research
scholars to present papers on various aspects of Shulba
Sutras..Mathematicians with knowledge of the Sutras are welcome to
participate to interact with traditional scholars. Vidwan Venkatesh
Avadhani of Mathur who recently helped conduct Paundarika Soma Yaga as per
Apastamba Shulba Sutras at Vijayawada recently has consented to participate
and elaborate on the moulding of bricks, construction of the Chaina Chiti
and the conduct of the Yaga. In order to provide sufficient time to each
scholar, the number of presentations will be limited to eight. There will
be a key note address by an eminent scholar.

Last date for receipt of papers being presented is 31st July 2012.
This is the second seminar being conducted by Kalpa Heritage Trust after
the successful organisation of a National Seminar on Vivaha Samskara at
    Mysore in October 2011.

Looking forward to responses from scholars,
    With best regards,
    Dr.V.R.Anil Kumar

Which, of course, begs the question of why the traditional precept should be even (mis)quoted, given that it is no longer considered relevant. It is more honest to simply posit whatever one wishes to, without attributing it to someone else with whom one disagrees.

    > Also, I retain only the metaphysics and leave out the theology invoking Vishnu which has no relevance to physics. That is my choice.

Even so, it is inaccurate to attribute to Madhva the position that there are two types of reality, which he explicitly rejects in several places. His statement has nothing to do with types of reality (the adjective, meaning the property of being real), and instead has to do with types of entities, all equally real, these being independent and dependent. This classification also should have no relevance to physics since one of the categories, viz., the independent, is not the subject of it -- thus, everything in physics is classified as dependent only.

Please download this Editor from Google.doc and try it.

which you can use for typing both Devanagari or Roman IPA script.

Or you can use this online converter:

Type in using the encoding provided and convert into IPA Unicode alphabet letters.

Dear Parishad Members,
The Roman diacritics for Sanskrit are not IPA approved but developed by Indologists and accepted by consensus (Sir William Jones onward through Whitney, Hillebrandt, Oldenberg, Macdonell etc but not the SBE of Maxmüller) in the nineteenth century with minor modifications (e.g. ś for ç) in the twentietrh. Minor variations like the employment of both ṃ and ṁ for anusvāra still continue.
Almost all the signs are Unicode/Windows 7/MS Word 2010 compatible. There is still one deficiency that is the non-recognition of the vocalic with a ring below r (written ṛ in India with a dot below r). The ring below r that is is available with Gandhari Unicode but, its Unicode compatibility is not clear to me. The r with a ring below is often printed like a Chinese syllable in internet postings. This Gandhari Unicode is downloadable and employable with MS Word 2010 in Windows7. For internet transactions in, say, the BVP the dot below r is safer.
The diacritic signs will be available in the Symbol repertory that opens with the Insert tab in MS Word. Many signs have built in shortcut keys; some have to be individually built up by a process that is self-evident from the repertory itself. Once the shortcut keys have been built up, it is easy to write Sanskrit in Roman.
Please indicate if this helped.
Best
