I have a query regarding the term "चित्रस्थानीय" used as a visheshana for दिविषद् (देव / देवता) in a commentary to the following verse of Sri-Bhakti-Rasamrita-Sindhu.
Translation: “Seeing before them that Kṛṣṇa was entering the stomach of Aghāsura, who was the brother of Bakāsura, the devatās in the sky, overcome with sorrow, became still like painted pictures.”
Although, I could understand how the word is relevent in case of SAmaveda and Rigveda vis-a-vis Yajurveda through the following quote of सायणभाष्य :
But in the above-mentioned commentary to the verse, दिविषनद् (देव) has been qualified as चित्रस्थानीय.
So, in what sense चित्रस्थानीय is applicable to देव? Whether in the sense of "intermediaries" or something like that OR कर्मकाण्डी in contrast to ज्ञानी or भक्त OR it just signifies the meaning that has been conveyed in the translation of the main verse.
Also, has anywhere else any other commentator used चित्रस्थानीय for qualifying देव ?
May please elucidate.
