Dear Professor/Researcher,

Greetings from the Bharat Vidya Prayojana (BVP), Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is organising the International Conference on “Bharat’s Cultural Connections across the World” from 14 – 16 October 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference is being organised under the Brihattar Bharat Scheme and seeks to bring together scholars, researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines to examine India’s historical and contemporary civilizational interactions across Asia and beyond through fresh evidence, interdisciplinary approaches and critical perspectives.

The conference will explore the networks through which Indian ideas, knowledge systems, languages, artistic traditions, technologies, material culture and cultural practices interacted with societies across different regions. Particular emphasis is placed on early linkages and civilizational interfaces, including archaeological, epigraphic, literary and material evidence of early cultural encounters.

Sub-theme: Saraswati-Sindhu Civilisation and Early Global Interactions

As part of the theme “Early Linkages and Civilizational Interface,” BVP invites research papers examining the Saraswati-Sindhu Civilisation and its wider civilizational interactions. Papers may explore archaeological, epigraphic, literary, material, technological and cultural evidence relating to the civilisation’s early linkages with neighbouring regions and its place in the wider history of civilizational interaction across the Indian subcontinent and beyond.

Researchers and scholars interested in presenting a paper under this sub-theme are invited to submit their abstract by 17 September 2026 and the full paper by 20 September 2026.
