Pranam to all Vidvans

These days I use Unicode font -- Siddhanta -- to type in Devanagari.

I have never used Roman font with diacritics, Now I want to give it a try,

Is there a short-cut method to type a character having diacritical mark or I have to access -- character map-- copy and paste the character in my writing each and every time I need to one.

Regards,

I have created shortcuts for various letters with diacritical  marks. Example Alt+Shift+a = ã and so on. Then, I got used to these shortcuts.

Namaste,

Copying from character map is very cumbersome & time consuming, you dont have to do it at all.

I use Bhasha IME -- https://sites.google.com/site/bhashaime/ to directly enter texts in IAST or Devanagari.

and I find it one of the easiest methods to switch between Indic & Roman scripts.

Alternatively you can type in Devanagari & transliterate to IAST using Aksharamukha --

But I am sure this question has been asked by others so pls search the list archives for other suggestions.

Namaskar all,

I am totally opposed to using any other script for Sanskrit or any other languages of Bharat.  I consider that an attack on our languages, with the ultimate aim of destroying them, and our surrendering to the attackers.  Already you may have noticed the proliferation of the use of English words and numerals in our languages, particularly in Hindi and Marathi.  Please help stop this trend and save our languages, our scripts and our cultural and religious heritage.

Those who want to learn the language should learn the script also.  The Sanskrit alphabet is the most logically organized alphabet and does not require strange marking on the letters like the transliteration attempt does.  The pronunciation does not require a key.

Does anyone learn English or French in Devanagari or Tamil script?  I don't think so.  Why should we allow the west to dictate how our languages are to be written?

Thank you.

This is a small software for windows platform that give a very easy
way to type in diacritics for both, Unicode and non-Unicode formats.

You can try it and see. Almost all Windows users in ISKCON use this to
type their books and articles.

NOTE: if it doesn't work properly then try changing the compatibility
in properties of the exe file.

Thank you,
