The text, of mega size, is published by Chowkhamba in multiple volumes.  I would like to know if this text is a Smriti, Purana or any other.  Who is the original author? Which category of Vaishnavas hold it authentic? The following information is available:

Lakshminarayana Samhita [sanskrit]

by Shwetayan Vyas | 1,169,834 words | ISBN-10: 8170801818 | ISBN-13: 9788170801818

Summary: The Sanskrit edition of the Lakshminarayana Samhita (Lakshmi-Narayan) including grammatical analysis. This is an encyclopaedic work in Puranic style and divided into four large books according to the four Yugas, viz., Krita, Treta, Dvapara and Kali (Tishya). The work is devoted to Narayana although it deals with various deities, their manifestations and Lilas (creation etc.), Dharmas, Vratas, Tirthas, etc. The whole work consists of roughly 120,000 verses.

The work has been edited by Svami Sri Krishna Vallabhacharya Sastri who stays in Janagadh and is a teacher of Swami Narayana Sampradaya. The work is also known as Lakṣmīnārāyaṇasaṃhitā (लक्ष्मीनारायणसंहिता, Lakshminarayanasamhita, Laksminarayanasamhita), Lakṣmīnārāyaṇa-saṃhitā (लक्ष्मीनारायण-संहिता, Lakshminarayana-samhita, Laksminarayana) or Lakṣmī-nārāyaṇa (लक्ष्मी-नारायण, Lakshmi-Narayana, Laksmi)

Any leads to the authentic information about the status of this work is appreciated.

Thanks and regards

It is not quoted by Sankara, Ramanuja and Madhva shows it is of recent creation. Mainly Swami Narayan people follow it. It is not one of the 18 Puranas. It is not popular in South India and Vaishnavas here.

Subbuji,

Namaste, The prastavana in the first volume part 1, says that the samhita is a work of Svetayana Vyasa and that Krishnavallabhacharya, with great efforts, restored the text from very old manuscripts in a very poor condition. They further add that more details about the author (Svetayana Vyasa) will be provided in the second volume of the samhita. But, we find no such information in any of the later volumes.

Contrary to this, I remember reading a short article by Dr. V. Raghavan in Krishnavallabhacharya Smritigrantha, in which he says that Svetayana Vyasa is none other than Krishnavallabhacharya.
