Advertisement for Sanskrit scholar

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Project Scientist (one) for a period of one year (extendable up to four years), in the institute sponsored project entitled “Scientific study of Indian knowledge systems” (A SandHI project, http://iitk.ac.in/sandhi/). The details of the position are given below.

The interested candidates are requested submit their curriculum vitae containing information regarding their degree, statement of purpose, short-term research proposals and work experience on plain paper or by email. The applications should reach Dr. Anurag Gupta, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur – 208016 by 15^th December 2014. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification and the work experience will not be called for the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The post is purely temporary and will be offered for a period of one year and renewal on satisfactory progress.

Position:
Senior Project Scientist
Salary: 27000-2700-54000

Eligibility:
M.A. (Sanskrit) + 2 years of experience OR PhD (Sanskrit).

Job Profile:
The candidate must be able to take up translation and interpretation of indigenous scientific texts in Sanskrit and develop modular courses based on these texts. The candidate is expected to interact with the expert faculties of science and technology in IIT Kanpur to develop research projects related to scientific traditions and sustainable technology in ancient India.

Desired:
Strong Sanskrit background and knowledge of scientific works in Sanskrit. Candidates having working knowledge in (at least) one of the following areas will be preferred: Astronomy, Mathematics, Geometry, Architecture, Physical sciences, Material Science, Music, Archeology.

Nice to meet you on bvp. How can u find a scholar trained in both, Sanskrit and science? It is the need of the time that science students should join hands with Sanskrit students and jointly work on projects like translation. I am working on the text of hastyayurveda with an aayurveda expert.

Nice to read ur mail. If u can give more details of the project it may be possible to find out some one.

Malhar was asking a few days back about manuscripts on science  and said u are working on the project related to it. I told him that I have prepared a cat. cat of mss on science collected from about 80 printed descriptive catalogues, It is not published because we could not get funding. If u are interested u can pay a visit to pune,I can show u the work.

I would like to  ask about jrf schollership that i have taken jrf fallowship march 2013 to july 2013 than i have taken temporary withdrawl and after 9 month i have rejoined in phd programme . Now how  can i get or start my jrf fallowship again .
Is there any rule of gap certificate or breck certificate for get jrf falloship
I have got jrf in march 2013
