Is कवयित्री correct?  (female poet)

or should it be कवियत्री?

From the denominative verb कवयति "to act as a poet," one get the agentive noun कवयितृ, and the feminine form of this is कवयित्री.  I have not seen this form in Sanskrit usage, but this form is very commonly used in Marathi to refer to female poets. With best regards,

कवयित्री -- in Telugu etc .

Can कवि be declined as मति when used to refer to a female poet? Or, what will be the शब्द रूप of कवि in स्त्रीलिङ्ग?
