Dear scholar friends,
Good morning.
Our Second Thomas C Burke Memorial Symposium is scheduled for
May 9 and 10, 2026, through Zoom.  The topic for the symposium is
"Panini and Grammar".  All can participate with new original research.
All accepted papers will be awarded an honorarium of $50 as a token
help.  I can send the PDF copy of the Proceedings of the First Symposium.
It is distributed via Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G516SFWY

We are looking for insight into grammar as an application.  Panini culminates
a series of grammarians to create mathematical models on the construction
of the spoken words.  The important innovation is the establishment of a set of
discrete roots धातु that supposedly codifies human speech.  Such "roots" are
"discovered" in other languages through the analysis of speech in the languages.
We would like to encourage work on the understanding the science of the
"roots" as conceived by Panini and others through analysis.

Through the "roots" Panini succeeds in segmenting time into "tenses".  We
encourage comparative studies of "tenses" in different spoken languages
of the world.  A researcher can try with one or many regional Indian languages
to check the concept of time in literature.  Researchers with scientific outlook
can look into the philosophy of time and its perception in the brain.

Panini's grammar is mathematical and algebraic.  Researchers in human physiology
and recitation may look into the science of phonetics in speech.  Certain rules
can be universal and certain rules could be local.  We encourage research
into the discovery of superposition and suppression of phonemes in languages to
appreciate the rules and define them from a physiological viewpoint.

I am attaching a Call for Participation document that has been officially posted.

Best regards,
Bijoy Misra

Dear friends,
Personally I wish to encourage analytic research on the personality of
Panini as a teacher and an author.  We understand that he was in the
Faculty of Takshashila University in an autonomous relationship.
Research through the Greek and Chinese sources may help extract
new information.  Please write to me if you would like to undertake
such research.
Best regards,
Bijoy Misra
