Dear All,
I appreciate there is a committee for Flood Relief.  The composition, I have no comments.  I have been busy doing flood relief works through BVP and Ayyappa Seva Samajam these days, and  even if I am not there I am not at all concerned.  Similarly Narendranji also has been busy doing his lot.  What I have to say, in line with Govindaraj ji is that it becomes useless if  we have not yet started the flood relief operation.  I understand even in the city, Valasaravakkam is  in still in flood waters, Mudichur I think it  receded, Unpatronised area near Mahabalipuram side no one had gone,  Is that area not affected ?  There are similarly so many areas.  Many VSOs are flooding food, clothe, blanket, pulses, water, soap, bakery items etc.  but none has given the much needed  simple medicines like: ointment for  feet (chetrupunnu), combiflam,. crocin, cough syrups mosquito repellents like odomas, coils  paracetomol, pain relievers,  etc.  This is immediately needed.  If we can mobilise the doctors now including dermatologists  with  medicines, this is the need of the hour.  ,
2ndly and most importantly, the cabinet  should have taken the decision rather than a committee,  We  must work with trust, if  it is not there, BVP  is going nowhere.  The treasurer being part of the cabinet should have released the fund with  control over expenses. and total transparency   will naturally be exercised.   Let us do not delay things.   You need food when you are hungry.

Dear Rangaji,

I am first of all sorry for not attending the emergency meeting which you convened last Monday. I am happy that a Committee has been formed to monitor and provide flood reief. Though we are starting the relief work when all others have completed their relief work. it, any small help done properly will be appreciated. The Committee has been formed fine but as of now whether any work has been started? If it gets delayed by another week we will definitely become insignificant and the relief we intend to provide will become meaningless. I am not writing this not out of any grouse that i was not considered in the Committee but like you i am also interested in the organisation and hence this quote.

In the Committee i believe only Shri V.R. Kannan and your goodselves have some first hand experience in the flood relief work. As a person who has been doing this relief work with my friends i share with you that this work is pbysically taxing, involves lot of planning and the execution part has lots of unexpected hurdles like the public venting their anger on us. You all would have come across all these angry responses, iam sure.

Shri Satagopan is a self less, articulate, well learned person. But he is sufficiently aged. He should have been one of the advisors. I really do not know why you or Kannan was not made Chairman as you both are the Office bearers of the Pranth. I do not see Narendran or Paththu's name in the list. Janardhanan's name is conspicuously missing.

Let me repeat i do not have any grouse for not being considered in the Committee. I am satisfied with what as an individual i could do in the flood ravaged areas. This delay on some permutation and combination will not serve the purpose for which we received the furnds. This is a sorry state of affairs. If the Committee has already started the work i withdraw my words.

Dear Rakesh,

I am sorry i have unnecessarily offended many through my reaction to the Committee constituted for Flood Relief. As a person who is directly involved in relief (though i do not want to publish any whatsupp photos or mails) i just wanted to impress upon the gravity of the situation we are faced with. The relief work itself is only partially over. What irked me was we were yet to begin when so much work was going on outside. We werestill groping over policies and procedure. While i do not want to again comment about the members constituting the relief work, the committee should have made me more participative if any indication that the President/Secretary/Treasurer must look into the requirements and report to the Committee. If my words have distressed u, i openly apologise you as i am the last person to offend anyone. My mail was against the policies and the stand taken on an issue and not on the individual per se. I do not want to enter an email debate and would like to contribute to the Committee whenever instructed either directly or through our Gurumurthy.

Regarding point No.4 of your mail I have so much to ask you but do not want to precipitate the issue. You can disagree but do not discard any proposal as "ones whims and fancies".

R. Govindaraj

>Dear All,

Please find below the important points to be noted for the chain mails. I request all the BVPians look into the following points:

(1) I am really pained to look into the wordings "that only few members have experience in organizing flood relief programme". There are many BVP members who are working on individual levels for the flood relief programme. No Member has been sidelined in the committee. Please refer to the Original mail ,where the nominated committee members were suggestive and free hand has been granted to Prant President and General Secretary to include more members, based on the requirement/ area of operation. The Prant President / General Secretary can include members, in discussion with the chairperson.

(2) Prof. B. Satagopan, being a super senior member of BVP and other organisations, has been chosen as "CHAIRPERSON", in order to give us a moral support and motivation as a LEADER. No doubt, just by his name, the reputation of the committee goes to a very higher creamy level. With his experience and reputation, we gain more 'entry' into many places and his support to us quite high! Every body knows the same.

(3) The committee was formed with at-least one member in each branch, irrespective of their status/ position. There is not conspiracy in choosing the members.

(4) The Treasurer can release the funds, when there is a proper plan, supported by relevant details. Funds cannot be released to any individual / nor based on any whims and fancies of the individual. PLEASE CONSULT THE APPROPRIATE OFFICE BEARERS, BEFORE COMMENTING ON THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES.

(5) It is never to late to carry on flood relief programme, as our target is for rehabilitation activities. There are lot of materials, blankets and other articles which are "TRASHED" in many areas, as there of no use to the particular locality inmates.

Hope this mail clarifies the queries raised.
