I noticed an issue with my physical keyboard.
I connect to a linux VM from android with a physical keyboard connected. Note that my keyboard layout is not a US or UK one.
Upon connecting to the VM the keystrokes are sent as if the layout was a US one, and not the system default layout in android, and so far i have not found a way to fix this.
I don't think this is an issue on the VM site, because if I use remmina from another linux machine to connect to the VM, the keyboard works as expected.

Could you please provide an option to select a keyboard layout, or to force the android system default layout in the default settings?

Hi Atilla,

What RDP server are you connecting to?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's the issue... RDP protocol doesn't really need layouts to send virtual scancodes _if the server supports Unicode input_.

Unfortunately for xrdp, the feature delivery is still in flight (the issue is closed, but I don't know which xrdp version has it)

Presumably it also needs to be turned on server-side. And also, an option Unicode input needs to be toggles in aRDP.

Have you had a chance to check your version and if the new unicode input functionality can be leveraged with it? There is an option in aRDP in Advanced Settings (marked Windows only) for sending unicode input - I'd love some feedback on users being able to use it with xrdp.

Thanks!
Iordan

Thank you for the detailed information. I am running xrdp version 0.10.4.1, I am not sure if there is a newer one than this.
I have tried the turning on the unicode input toggle on aRDP but unfortunately the issue remained.
I have also tried setting changing the keyboard layout while connected to the VM in the session, and that resulted in a partial success, I got my language specific accented characters, but only some of them, but what's weird is that the cursor keys stopped working completely. So I either have a US layout with working cursor keys, or a partially working HU layout with no cursor keys.

I looked at the xrdp source code, and while ibus Unicode support is merged into devel branch, it is not merged into master and is not present in any 0.10.x release yet.

We have to wait, or somebody has to ask when they plan to merge it in.
