Hi,

I have a number of problems controlling a Windows 10 host using aRDP on an Android tablet (Galaxy Tab S8+):

1.) The keyboard layout apparently doesn't match. Any special characters (question mark, comma, dash etc.) results in a different character on the remote host. I can't find a way to select a keyboard layout in aRDP.

2.) The scrolling (two finger gesture) is working "backwards": When dragging the fingers down on the tablet, the page on the host should scroll up. Instead, it scrolls down. Is there some toggle to invert this I haven't found yet?

3.) I'm unable to manipulate windows on the remote host (resize, drag). When the mouse pointer hovers over a window edge, it should change to the "resize" form, but it doesn't modify at all. Also, I haven't found out how to "grab and drag" a window. Am I overlooking something? (I'm using the "simpulated touchpad" input method.)

Can anyone give me some tips on these...?

Regards

You need to have the correct layout selected on the server. What layout do you have selected server-side?

The layout on aRDP's side should not matter for software keyboards. If you are using a hardware keyboard instead, please let me know, but for hardware keyboards layout selection happens in Android settings, not in individual apps.

There is an option to send unicode characters rather than virtual codes that you probably want to try as well. Look for it in advanced settings.

Flip the direction of scrolling in the remote operating system (from Windows settings).

There is currently no mouse shape integration with the remote server. So unfortunately, you'll have to judge by the location of the pointer whether you're in resize mode or not.

For this and any other feature requests, please report at https://github.com/iiordanov/remote-desktop-clients/issues.

Thanks!

The server is set to German layout (as is the tablet.) If I connect using another Windows PC as the client, the keys are received correctly on the host.

I tried enabling the Unicode option, but didn't notice any difference.

Flip the direction of scrolling in the remote operating system (from Windows settings).

Again, when connecting from a Windows PC, the mousewheel scroll direction is as intended. The direction from the tablet is different.

I see. Doing this blindly is difficult because it seems that when zooming in (pinch gesture) on the tablet, the mouse speed is "zoomed" as well. Meaning, after zooming in by 2x, the mouse is not 2x more precise, because it has become twice as fast.

Hey,

Thanks for the details.

Could you kindly tell me what version is shown in Advanced Settings (at the bottom)?

A couple of weeks ago I found that even the latest version on google play has a non-functional unicode input option in the general settings. It will be removed in a future version. The option that *does* work is at the top of Advanced Settings.

I just tried it and while y and z are swapped and I can't type @ without the option, with the option turned on everything I tried works just fine. Let me know if something still doesn't work.

Also, you can try this release (or older) and see if there is any improvement or degradation and let me know:

For me, mouse scroll, two finger scroll, and local direction are all the way I expect. If you would like to suggest an option that changes something, I suggest a feature request here: https://github.com/iiordanov/remote-desktop-clients/issues

Right, so there are two separate issues - cursor too quick, and cursor shape not changing, right?

I think we should have respective feature requests at https://github.com/iiordanov/remote-desktop-clients/issues.

Thanks!

Actually, I just revisited the "Unicode Input (Windows only)" setting in default settings, and it clearly says that changing the value there "Applies to new Connections Only".

It's a default setting that applies when a new connection is made or when a connection is started through a programmatic integration with aRDP.

Pretty sure it deals with your issue, please confirm.

Cheers!
