2012 Awards Dinner & AGM

[BVI Mountain Bike Club]

On Saturday 1 December the BVI Mountain Bike Club held it's Annual Awards Dinner at Drake's Point.  A delicious buffet dinner was served during which a fun cycling themed quiz was kindly presented by Gareth Thomas which was won by Alastair's table.  

The 2012 Cadets Awards came first and the top three in each age category received medals for their efforts in the Cadets races throughout the year.  The 2012 Category Awards came next and the top three riders in each category were presented with trophies.  Special Award Trophy for Most Improved went to Statius Talium and the Trophy for Most Unfortunate went to Joe Giacinto.  Rusty Burns was the recipient of a Gift Certificate for his hard work in course marking and presentation during 2012.  Jim Cullimore was presented with a special award for his contributions over the years to mountain biking by Tony Spencer on behalf of Mike Masters.  

Last but not least, the most coveted 2012 Championship Points Awards were announced.  Points were accumulated by cyclists from each race during the 2012 BVI Mountain Bike Club season events.  Tony Spencer became the 2012 Champion with a total of 292 points and received a trophy and a $100 Gift Certificate redeemable at Last Stop Sports.  The top ten in the 2012 Championship Points received gift certificates and trophies.  See below for full results.

The AGM voting resulted in Jim Cullimore being re-elected as Club President and Adrian Dale re-elected as Treasurer.  Paul Cullimore will act once again as Time Keeper and Race Official and Dara Smith will oversee the 2013 Championship Points.  Sally Blackmore stepped down as secretary after 3 years in the post. 

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Jim Cullimore.

Membership to the BVI Mountain Bike Club is open to everyone. During the off season we will be having various social rides and events which all are invited.  The next social ride will be Sunday 9th December to Virgin Gorda.  The 2013 season commences with the Beef Island Race on March 10.  For more information please call Jim Cullimore 496-7957.
