Hi All,

First, thanks to everyone who has helped with the beta testing so far, I can't do this stuff without you. Normally I would use my second computer to test things out, but I'm actually on holiday right now, so don't have access to another machine. That said, if I wasn't on holiday, I'd have no time to try and fix this - so this is the way it has to be!

I've compiled a version of bvhacker that includes the runtime libraries actually inside the app, so Windows can't complain about not finding them. As usual, it all works fine, on my dev machine...

If anyone still has patience, please could they test out this version:

Thanks again,

This one seems to run properly now in my machine. Again, Win 7 x64 Professional, ServicePack 1.

Just curious though, what are the changes in it? I remember you saying you'd add a better scaling system (that didn't work in powers of 2) long ago, however I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Dave your a star. That install well, opens and all is good. I will have to wait before I can play with some chunky files
though. Win 7 64 ult service pack1

Thanks again for your hard work on this!!

Hi Dave,

I installed on Win 7 and BVHacker 1.9 Launches fine,

However when I try to load a bvh file it says something about MAC endlines.

Then it does not close the error message without using the task manager..

Thanks and Cheers

This is great news, thanks for testing. If anyone can help, it still needs testing on the following platforms:

Win7 32-bit
Win8
WinXP

@Joe - Was the troublesome file created on a Mac? If so, here's the workaround: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en-GB_TH#!searchin/bvhacker/mac/bvhacker/yu2x4_I9YXM/RSaK4W8ngv8J
@Kenode - There are no other changes, the scaling still only works in powers of two. Much as I'd love to spend some more time on bvhacker right now, time is short and other projects are pressing...

Thanks again guys, as a one-man development team I really do rely on your support to keep bvhacker working on modern versions of Windows!

Hi Dave,

I am able to open older files without using that method,

However newer files, I cannot open even after using that workaround

Please make it so we can open the files with Mac line endings, like before.

Otherwise Im left with thousands of BVH files that will not work in Bvhacker,

It would take years to convert these files with the workaround you mentioned.

Thanks

Hi Davedub

Install went perfectly fine.
The one weird thing is the viewport is a tall rectangle.
When I maximize or make the window larger the viewport does not change. It's still a tall rectangle.
I'm on Windows 7 64-bit Pro

Hi All,

I've got one thing I'd like to try with this visual studio runtime libraries problem - I've made a version of the installer that doesn't include the libraries. It's posted on the bvhacker homepage as:

'download bvhacker 1.9 beta (Nov 2013 - no runtime libraries version)'

If anyone's got the time to check it out and report back here, that would be great.

Cheers,

Davedub

Hi Dave

Your No runtime libraries version installed here very quickly. Opened some files I know well,
clicked and pushed everything. All seems to work well and as expected. Saved my edits ok, re opened
and played them. Pretty cool.

Windows 7 64 Ultimate
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
seem to have about 20 MS visual c++ redistributables pre loaded though.

Thanks for your work on it. Great stuff, as ever!

Martin

Hey Joe,

Have you tried out the latest beta - it has no Visual Studio runtime libraries, and seems to work for all!

Yeehaa! free of the evil dependants. Either you've been running very fast or shaking your leg really
hard.

Must feel good, hopefully it'll save you lots of releasing and platform related headaches.

Thanks again for sharing all your hard work with us.

sorry about the non post.  not use to this type of reply
tested both bata, and they work but it not allow you to associate with the program.  every time click on choose program to open with then do search for bvh hacker going to the 32 bit program folder then open folder, click on exe file icon the it not show association.  no matter how many attempts to associate.   works find if you drag and drop some folders.  like someone below am getting the mac ending and then not being able to close or run. so all those files are lost to it's use.
