Helo there,

fist of, thanks for providing a tool for "hacking" bvh files :)

On my first attempt I stumbled into some strange behaviour using a bvh -version of that avi file:

http://mocap.cs.cmu.edu/search.php?subjectnumber=%&motion=%

When I mark in and out, then crop and try to knit, the skeleton rotates his way back to his "origin" instead of just knitting the in and out of his animation
-is there any fix or workaround to this?

thx in advance & enjoy your day!

Hi,

It looks very much like your skeleton is rotated more than 360 degrees during the animation, which means that when the knit function runs, it's trying to blend between hugely different rotations - which, as you can see, is a little beyond what the knit function can do automatically (The knit function works best when the start and end rotations are similar)

Without looking at your file, it's hard to be sure, but I'd imagine the difference between the hips rotations at the start and end of your animation are too far apart for bvhacker to knit automatically - you probably need to use Motionbuilder, Blender or Maya to get good results.

If you need someone to do this for you, let me know, as I'm based in Asia and so know animators who can do this for you for a relatively small fee.

Sorry I can't help any more than that,

- Davedub
