All,
I have been supporting Buckhall and have given 22 years of my life to Buckhall and have devoted time over and above the normal time.  I am up to date on all my certifications and requirements and have been volunteering on Friday evening except when sick and when Kathy's Father passed this January.

Luke,
You have not discussed any issues we have nor have you made any effort to contact me about any issues you have relating to this suspension.  I don't know what is going on or why you suspended me.  I assume this is fallout from the Jason issue.  I hope the members of Buckhall see thru your deliberate  attack on me personally.

Given the suspension and the attitude you display toward me, I can no longer volunteer for Buckhall.  Consider this my resignation from Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department.

I wish Buckhall the best and hope the department can continue as a viable asset to the community.

Buckhall Family,

After living in and serving the Buckhall community for the past 19 year, my wife and I have finally moved.  We have re-planted the Shipley flagpole in Huntsville, Alabama.  With the relocation, I find it tough, but necessary to submit my resignation, effective as of now.

As most of you know, I have been traveling and working on the road almost constantly for the past 6 – 7 years.  Now, Gina and I are finally able to put our lives back together and live under one roof, at least most of the time.

I remember back to the time when Justin and I initially came to the station.  BVFD members had been soliciting donation in our neighborhood.  At the time, Justin was in High School at OP,  but planning to go to Medical School.  Gina thought experience at BVFD might be good for him.  I came to the station with him for an interview—we both joined.  I can definitely say, the training and experience gained at BVFD was extremely valuable to both of us.  Being trained and cut loose as both a lead Firefighter and EMT on his 18th birthday provided Justin an opportunity to gain real world experience in life and death situations.  It helped him gain a level of maturity more rapidly, and more valuable than anything else I can envision.  This experience has stayed with him for the rest of his life.  I can only say Thank You to the BVFD community for providing such an enriching life experience for young people—I hope you keep it up.

I wish the best to the BVFD Community, as you continue to serve the community.  I encourage everyone to stay safe and support each other.

All the Best!

Buford Shipley
