Get the most out of your notes with formulas that automatically apply to an object. Use a template from a predefined set to display meaningful context-sensitive information immediately, instead of having to do it yourself.

Use intelligent drafting tools made specifically for mechanical design. Boost drawing productivity and efficiency with reusable detailing tools such as Centerline, AMSHIDE, Hole Charts, and Scale Area for Viewports.

It shows in the Autocad portion (pls see the picture below) that I can access all the Autocad types including mechanical. When I installed the Autocad on my PC it only shows the regular Autocad. Have I missed something? How can I access Autocad Mechanical?

Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the Installation and Licensing forum! AutoCAD Mechanical is a separate installation you will have to do. You should have access to the download through your Autodesk Account, once logged in go to All Products and Services. From here you should see AutoCAD - Including Specialized Toolsets > Select View All Included and you should see a list of products and Mechanical should be listed to download. Please see the screenshots below:

Is it a thing to put normal base CAD 2021 with the Mechanical and Electrical package?

Basically trying to combine the 2, mechanical and electrical... Not quite sure if it's possible or if I am overlooking something.

With AutoCAD subscription you have access all three but the Mechanical and Electrical can not be combined into one. You will have to open a drawing in Mechanical (or Electrical), close the drawing and open with the other one.

I ended up installing AutoCAD 2024 but I actually wanted to download and install the latest AutoCAD Electrical, is it possible I upgrade the AutoCAD 2024 I installed to the Latest AutoCAD Electrical? Please i need your advice and guide and thank you in anticipation pf your quick positive and productive response

Friend, a subscription to AutoCAD gets you access to download and install 2024 and 2023 and 2022 and 2021 PLUS all of those separate programs that you crave like AutoCADELECTRICAL of the same year versions.

Not sure how you understood any of that from my reply, unless you still are confused (as many are for good reason) by what Autodesk calls TOOLSETS: each AutoCAD variant is, in the most simplest terms, a stand-alone product.

I've installed Auctocad Mechanical 2021, but it doesn't seem any different to the normal Autocad. I've searched on the forum and tried changing the workspace, but the only options are the usual Drafting and annotations as in Autocad. I've tried reinstalling, uninstaling and installing again, but it just doesn't seem to work. I only need it to convert a 3d model to a .stp file! The annoying thing is I've used it before, so I'm wondering if I've changed something by mistake?

It sounds like the program that is opening is core AutoCAD, not Mechanical. If you are using the application shortcut on the desktop to open AutoCAD Mechanical, it may be damaged and can be replaced from the Windows button in the lower left corner.

Thanks for your reply. I was definitely opening Autocad Mechanical, but it didn't have anything mechanical in it. I have installed Autocad Mechanical on a pc and it works fine. Not sure why I can't install it properly on my laptop, but at least I've been able to create the .stp file that I needed.

hi i would like to open on mechanical mode but everytime t opens on auto cad. i tryd going to start programs autodesk but theres no option for autocad mechanical. and i need to use constrction lines. i can only find 1 type on construction line under draw in auto cad. i need it show like how it does on mechanical were there are various options for construction lines

Apps (On the Left) -> Default apps -> Scroll Down to "Related Settings" -> Under "Related Settings", select "Choose defaults by file type" -> Scroll Down to ".dwg" -> Select "Choose a default" or click on the previously set application

I am currently in a drafting class teaching with AutoCAD Mechanical 2020. (Which is confusing to me since the mechanical standalone toolsets, as well as architecture and others, are now special toolsets in AutoCAD since 2019. But I still have to click an icon for Mechanical 2020.) So are there any differences in user friendliness between the Mechanical by itself and AutoCAD with the toolset? Besides for using new features, such as count, will every thing else be the same?

FYI... I downloaded AutoCAD Architecture 2018 for a student project and currently I can do most things in the class using the AutoCAD functions within the Architecture desktop. But that is about to change in the coming days when the course goes into Mechanical specific lessons.

OK I think I figured it out. When I download AutoCAD 2022 all I get is AutoCAD. Then I will have to download the mechanical toolset. Which gives me Mechanical AutoCAD 2022 as a standalone. So if I'm correct I'll have two versions of AutoCAD instead of one with a toolset. Correct?

You can create a batch file using Notepad. You should use the following syntax when you create a batch file for AutoCAD Mechanical. Please note that your profile needs to be created from an existing Mechanical work space for the Product to launch correctly.

I don't have Autocad reset as an option on my machine, only the Autocad mechanical one. When I do an reset to Autocad Meachincal it does just that and brings up Autocad mechanical. should I have an Autocad reset?

Can you try using the AutoCAD icon in your screenshot to launch AutoCAD and see whether it works. Reset defaults is to make everything go back to factory default but not to launch AutoCAD profile. If you are interested in launching AUTOCAD from Mechanical, use the AutoCAD Launch Icon shown on your screenshot and then create your ARG file there and add it to the start up, it should work from there.

I am not sure if this belongs here but I am using plane autocad and I want to upgrade to mechanical because of all the things I use daily like veldings, ballons, partlist and more. But many off the engeneers working with me uses Inventor and I need good argument on way I need AM. I dont know how to use Inventor so the qestion is if I have Inventor alredy do I not neet AM.

The thing is the gays send me 2d of there 3d Inventor model in dwg and I put it on layouts end ad partlist, dimension, veldings and stuff in autocad to print. I know I can do most of this in Inventor and I know we have to upgrade the way we are working and I am looking into the best way to do it.

having some experience of working in Autocad Mech and Inventor i would like to give you my opinion. i have to say that Mech and Inventor are noncomparable software from my point of view, because these systems use absolutely various approaches of a design process. They are not competitors. You can do the same things in both systems very good. It is depend on your company's approach to design. If the issue is only to make drawings of the parts and assemblies using 3d models, and the cost of the software is important (if there is no sense to purchase Invetor only for that) , then the best choice is Autocad Mechanical. The perfomance will increase in comparison with basic autocad because of using specialized features included into autocad mech. But i advice you to look at inventor LT as well. Maybe it will satisfy your requirements.

AutoCAD Mechanical has lots of great tools and standards but it is important for you to recognize it is not just "AutoCAD Plus": it requires you to actually use those tools and standards and not stick to regular AutoCAD methods. As such I'd highly recommend training.

If you can't afford both AM & Inventor, you can't afford Inventor. It's not usable on its own. The "sketch" (2D drawing) environment is primitive and infuriating. You have to draw in Autocad and import to Inventor.

If you are given 2D drawings, and you are adding annotations like Welding Symbols, BOMs Balloons and Parts Lists, AutoCAD Mechanical is the way to go. You get way more stuff than plain Vanilla AutoCAD What's more, compliance to drafting standards is way more current than Inventor. I don't think that the cost difference between AutoCAD and AutoCAD Mechanical is significant.

Hello I have a drawing that use to be a a STEP file, it was "BURST" into individual 3d parts is there a command to re-combine the parts so I can perform "STEPOUT" I tried "SURFSCULPT" I am working in Mechanical Cad.
