The Sony reciever is an excellent entry level reciver for home theaters. It has ample bass out of the box when connected to the Yamaha natural sound speakers, however when watching action movies you WILL need a subwoofer, which is the only thing missing from this package other than four surround speakers if you are going to use it as a 7.1 system. I coupled this system with the Yamaha natural sound 6.5" 100 watt in ceiling speakers and was impressed with the 3d sound after tuning and correctly pointing the tweeters on each speaker. I would highly recomend tacking advantage of the programable speaker measurments on the reciever. When the speakers are measured (from middle of speaker to ear) and the measurment is programmed into the reciever, the reciever atomatically adjusts the volume level/ enhancements of that speaker so it is not overpowering your other speakers if one is closer than the other. When all is said and done, the sound is very balanced and natural sounding. Please note that if one of the speakers is used as a front center speaker and is tuned on its side that one or more of the studs will need to be notched out to fit the speaker since is approx: 24" wide.

Overall i was very impressed with the system for the price, and would highly recomend adding the four surround speakers with a subwoofer. High quality reciever and speakers!
