Dear ButterflyIndia members,

After 19 years for eGroups and then Yahoo groups, the service is closing  down. Most of the members have moved on to Fb, WA etc. But there are few members (like me) who still prefer email as a medium of formal communications. We have had an archival Google Group for years, and we are moving there now. https://groups.google.com/g/butterfly_india

Please join the group and if you face any difficult email us at diversi...@gmail.com

Please forward this message to all butterfly lovers.

Regards,

Vijay

Hi Vijay,
Thanks for creating the original group. I so fondly remember the hectic activity on the group in the initial years till internal wrangling and clash of egos completely destroyed this group. Sure Fb & WA have made difference but groups like Oriental Bird Images are thriving & growing inspite of them.
I think an excellent facility available to common butterfliers got destroyed by the actions of few.
I haven't seen almost any images posted in last 4 months and may be not more than a handful over the last 2-3 years. Does it serve any purpose to keep it alive? Well it doesn't hurt anyone in any case.

Dear Shyam ji,

I had the same thought, if members care about email group or not. But we already have 20 members joining, so it looks like we are going to revive it.

In case any members face problem in joining, please let me know at diversi...@gmail.com

Regards,

Vijay

Oks Sirji. I shall join the new grp. Yahoo was the first grp for exchange of bflies info. It had the authenticity. A platform I had used for identification purposes through my friend in my early days. Thank you for letting me know about the new grp.
