Thanks to all who attended the first meeting of CSI-Butler County. We
will be changing our name and hope to become a chapter of US Uncut
soon. I will be looking in to that today and tomorrow. Please let me
know if I forgot anything or misinterpreted anything in the
information below.

First meeting was called to order at approximately 2:05 pm.
Introductions were made and everyone shared their thoughts on the
current political situation and how best to go about affecting change.

Dr. Steve Porter spoke about his solutions and gave those in
attendance a copy of his book, Preserving America.

Some people were more in favor of working within the system and some
were more in favor of working outside the system. However, all were in
agreement that neither of the two parties are working in the
interests of the working people.

It was decided we should meet on a monthly basis and we should be
focused on the following:

1. Disinvesting in and boycotting companies that are working against
the interests of the working poor and middle class. (Some of these
companies include Koch Brothers Industries, Bank of America, GE, AT&T,
Wal Mart, S.C. Johnson &John Deere. A more comprehensive list will
follow.

2. Take to the streets and call out corporations that are tax dodgers
and demonstrate clearly that if these corporations paid their fair
share, cuts would not have to be made to social programs, education
etc.

3. Conduct a massive recruitment campaign. It was suggested that each
person in attendance recruit five people for the next meeting.

4. Set up a bulletin board web page. This has already been done. The
address will be sent to you in a separate email.Thank you Mike!

5. Conduct an action before the next meeting. Brandie will try to find
out when the next Chamber meeting is taking place and we can be there
with signs that show many U.S. corporations are not paying any federal
taxes & how that impacts everyone. Reid will research the relationship
between the national Chamber and the local Chamber's.

( As soon as I get that information I will pass it on to you.)

Karen and Mike will get all the particulars about the Earth Day event
at Slippery Rock University and pass it on to us.

Steve suggested www.thomas.loc.gov if you want to look up any bill.

Gene suggested www.informationclearinghouse.com as a good source of
information.

( I will also add www.opensecrets.org is a great site to see who is
giving and receiving money in politics - even in your own zip code!)

It was decided we should meet monthly but a date and time were not
specified. I suggest we keep our meetings on Sunday afternoons - say
the second Sunday of each month. That would make our next meeting on
April 10th. Just a suggestion. Let me know. I hope that will work out
for the majority. We also need to decide location. Send me your
thoughts. Do you prefer a public place or would you prefer we rotate
the meetings at each others homes? If you prefer a public venue, would
you like to keep the meetings at Panera or another location? Any
suggestions?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for taking time out
of your weekend to get involved!!!

Meeting was adjourned at approximately 3:45 pm.

Sincerely,
Linda.

Thx for the minutes.  We were visiting a friend in Washington County who recently had surgery.

There is also a boycott going on against corporations who supported Gov. Kasich in OH.

Thanks, Ellen. We did miss you but know you were there in spirit (I
could feel your spirit when I got close to the bagels - either that or
it was just a craving).
