I was wondering if anyone has been able to get a standalone looper pedal to work with a line 6 Spider IV 75. The main issue is that changing to a different channel also changes the recording of the loop. I understand why that is happening. I was hoping I could find something in the Spider IV Edit software to get around this.
I had also found some posts on another site from about 8 years ago with the same problem. Their solution was updating the software and that they could change channels without affecting the loop recording. I updated mine to V2.0. Same problem.
No, you can't keep the sound of the loop and change the amp's patch for a new sound to play over the loop if you are using the amp's speaker. You would need a post-FX input/output to do so (FX loop). Spider Edit allows you to write/change your patches for the amp but won't allow you the looper functionality you are seeking.
If you take the DI/headphone output of the Spider amp and run that to your looper (watch your levels!), then run the looper's output to another amp or PA, you can then change the amp's patch without affecting the looper-recorded patch.

Rather than leave a bunch of comments aimed at helping others achieve sync in the absence of the Tri-Star logo that Rian mentions, let me summarise my previous comments. His own advice to un-pause the track after the first of whatever production logo begins the movie, at least in the case of the eOne logo at the start of the UK print, does get you pretty close, but still has the commentary running slightly ahead of the action. You can improve the sync by pausing the track near here, where he mentions Joe checking his hairline, and then un-pausing it when you actually see Gordon-Levitt look in the mirror and touch his forehead. But the best sync is achieved at little later by pausing the track at the moment the director points out his mother's cameo appearance at the head of a queue of people waiting in line outside the club Joe's driving his Miata to. He begins by pointing out several women that are not his mom by saying "Not her. Not her. Not her." Pause the track at the moment he exclaims "Her!" then un-pause it as soon as you catch a glimpse of the middle-aged woman in the bronze coloured cocktail dress. It's so fleeting that you'll miss it if you blink. But if you manage it you won't get a better sync than that, honest ;) A good sync makes all the difference, and is well worth the effort to achieve. I found the commentary both entertaining and informative. So may the sync be with you :)
Looper actually managed to exceed my expectation of it exceeding my high expectations. Thank you for the best theatrical experience I've had in over two years, I hope my work will one day be good enough to make you proud of being one of my biggest inspirations with FIncher and Nolan. Can I write arbitrary text (or draw graphics?) from PD to the little OLED screen on the Organelle, to display looping status? It looks like I definitely can, but is there anywhere I can go online to look at the documentation for how that works from PD?
As for more specific Organelle implementations, I learned the most from opening up patches and poking around.
