Then, how can we resolve the disadvantages of WOS? One example is
making a good relationship with local residents. WOS can possibly
bring some antipathy of local residents. WOS means that the firm is
fully foreign capital, thus distribution of the gains to local economy
might not be archived. POSCO tried to build plant in India and got all
the government approvals they needed. But there have been mass resist
of local resident until today so POSCO failed. JCB have made great
achievement, and is the 1st player in India, but there still some
competitors exist. And demand of construction equipment in India is
still growing exponentially. There is expectation that the demand will
increase to 5 times, 130 billion dollar, before 2015. Since India is
the most important market of JCB, in the long term, they need some
effort on harmonizing local residents.
JCB need to return some of their profit to India local society.
Reducing sense of deprivation and making them favorable impression of
the firm will lead JCB to keep the ascendancy over other competitors
in the long run.
Generally, to make WOS less risky, before entering to foreign market,
we should investigate some factors such as government regulation,
country culture, kindness of residents and the risk that we could
face.
