Subject: Rotaract updates and leadership opportunities

Hello everyone,
Congratulations on the end of the semester! (and good luck to those of you who are almost done).  We had a great turnout at the BBQ and had a bunch of new people sign up who are interested in our Green activities.  Congrats to Devan and everyone else who worked hard to make it a successful event.

For you new comers, WELCOME!!

RECYCLING:
I attended at meeting of the Green Committee yesterday where we discussed a number of items.  I have been charged with creating a survey that will be sent to all department heads here at the school to gain a better understanding of what they are and are not doing to be "green".  I also brought up the idea that we discussed about visiting various departments to inform them of our efforts, educate them on what they can do to make a difference and hopefully gain more support.  The idea was well received and we are working on putting together a list of departments and meeting times.

The Talbot building continues to collect recyclable bottles and cans and I am looking for people to help share the responsibilities of transporting the recyclables to the larger bins in the medical school.  If you will be around this summer and are interested in helping please send me an email (rpi...@bu.edu).

MALARIA:
We are in the final stretch of the Elite Eight.  Right now we have a sizeable lead but are nervous that "Where there's a Will..." is sitting on a large sum of money that they will strategically drop into the competition at the last minute to try and beat us.  We need all the help we can get to secure our lead and to save lives by providing bed nets to help prevent malaria.  Every $5 purchases and distributes a bed net.  Please join in the fight against malaria and encourage your friends and family to visit madnessagainstmalaria.com/busphrotaract.

LEADERSHIP:
Eva is graduating along with many of the other board members and I will be the next president of Rotaract.  I am looking for enthusiastic, dedicated people to join me on the board.  I am attaching a description of the different board positions along with an application to this email.  If there is a specific project you would like to work on or a topic that you would like to bring some attention I would encourage you to apply.  There is a great deal of flexibility within the different positions and I am more than willing to change the structure of the club to best meet the needs of its members.

If you are thinking that you would like to be more involved but not totally sure yet please email me so that we can talk about some of your doubts or concerns.

I am really excited for next year and look forward to planning our activities around your interests.  All of your thoughts, comments, and concerns would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you all have a fabulous summer!!

Rachel

ps, I will be here all summer so if any of you will be here and have projects you would like to work on please let me know

pps There has been some exciting new movement between schools here on the Medical Campus and a group has formed called MeCASA also referred to as the Alliance. They are working on creating more communication and synergy between the four schools and Rotaract is all about it!  Look for more information from them posted around campus in the future.
