To administer and manage the HP9000 UNIX network, including (but not limited to) HP9000
security, network configuration, monitoring, failover, all system and Oracle database 
backups, and all system documentation. Provide training to the employees within the 
operations area on key areas of HP9000 and other UNIX system configurations and 
management and to act as primary lead on all UNIX problems across all systems. Develop a
plan, with inputs from the I.T. Department, detailing the components that might require 
external help in order to support key systems such as HP9000 and other UNIX network 
resources. Include other technical staff designated by Associate Director of Network 
Operations to assure backup of functions is achieved through training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer the HP9000’s and other UNIX systems, including availability, backup and 
security, configurations, networking, JAVA configuration, and AMISYS Advance configuration.
Set up and manage all HP9000 security. This includes all network, user, print, and physicalsecurity.
Manage and train I.T. Managers to be backup for administration functions and train other technical staff as necessary to ensure that the backup arrangement is satisfactory to the Associate Director of Network Operations.With Managers, manage and train the staff in functions relating to daily operations and cleanup of all UNIX systems.
Become and remain primary lead with UNIX and Oracle to facilitate administration of 
AMISYS Advance and related systems and to serve as the primary UNIX resource to other IT staff. (Oracle database administration is a separate function assigned to another staff member.)
Develop and maintain policies and procedures to support the HP9000’s infrastructure 
including the network, all related servers, security, and change management processes 

Set up and manage all DR backups related to all UNIX systems and databases including 
Oracle databases, and all AMISYS user environments. The Oracle backups are to be 
performed using the Secure Backup product in order to achieve the highest level of reliability in case of an emergency or failure.
Install and configure new instances of Amisys Advance in the test environment and keep the data in those environments current by periodically doing refreshes from the production environment as requested by IT staff.
Serve as lead for all HP9000 network and systems security. Conduct security vulnerability 
assessment from time to time and provide reports to the management on security analysis and various findings.
Assist in build and rollout of servers from ground up – using Windows 2003/2008/R2 and 
Linux distributions. Configure hardware RAID arrays and other server hardware 
configurations and perform systems testing as directed by the Manager of Network Operations.
Assist senior team members with centralized patch management, software distribution using SMS or group policies.
Assist in the administration of the Windows Server Farm and the Microsoft Exchange environment.
Familiarity with the virtualization software and ability to manage all aspects of virtual server, desktop, and application creation and administration.
Assist in the management of all job automation processes using scripting, schedulers, cron etc.
Assist in the management of all Internet security tools, including firewalls, anti-spyware, antivirus deployment, VPN, etc.
Assist in the support of all LAN connectivity troubleshooting with various switching protocolsincluding layer 3, and 4 switching.
Assist in the support of all WAN connectivity troubleshooting, including all T1’s and other Internet connections.
Assist with all IT related functions as defined by the Associate Director of Network Operations.
