I developed an entire EDI mapping and translation system using Open
Workshop. My tables all sit in Oracle. Mostly everything is done with
views and simple connects to other views with 3 or 4 custom screens. I can
test and map in real time with complete access to all data. I can break in
the middle of translating and modify or view the mapping and/or data in my
tables.
This works way better and with way less work than any other EDI translator
I have worked with. And it works directly with my data without having to
generate flat files or xml. We process between 1000-1500 transactions
daily 24/7/365. I can work in Oracle and/or basic as needed and I have the
best of both worlds.
I have no idea why you would still want Idol-BAS. Even updated into the
dictionary and adding views it is just too limited for modern environment.
