I have been a bb developer since 1979 (the old BASIC 4 days)!  Does anybody know how I can get a copy of the old IDOL-BAS that runs in dos or windows?  Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello Louis,

Good to hear from you.

IDOL/BAS is a copyrighted program from Thoroughbred Software and must be licensed as any of our products.  Let us know what you need, and how many users, and we will be pleased to quote you.

I still have our Rexon IDOL-BAS/AddOn application running for inquiries.
We wrote a new application in Oracle but still use Tbred with TSOracle
connector for EDI processing directly from our Oracle tables.

I developed an entire EDI mapping and translation system using Open
Workshop. My tables all sit in Oracle. Mostly everything is done with
views and simple connects to other views with 3 or 4 custom screens. I can
test and map in real time with complete access to all data. I can break in
the middle of translating and modify or view the mapping and/or data in my
tables.

This works way better and with way less work than any other EDI translator
I have worked with. And it works directly with my data without having to
generate flat files or xml. We process between 1000-1500 transactions
daily 24/7/365. I can work in Oracle and/or basic as needed and I have the
best of both worlds.

I have no idea why you would still want Idol-BAS. Even updated into the
dictionary and adding views it is just too limited for modern environment.

Dear Michel,

Thank you for your email.  I just need a very simple accounting program to run a small company's book in Hong Kong.  The old IDOL-BAS should work just fine.
