All,

One of the know problem in recruiting is: People who are good are not looking for jobs because most are happy in places where they are.
You can either reach them thru your contacts (linkedin being a good tool) and motivate them to think of a change or make a pitch which arouses interest from even those who otherwise are not looking.

What is your opinion about the following?

**************************************
If you think you have it in you, talk to us. Our offer letter comes with a $1000 cheque irrespective of whether you join us or not!!! So if you are good, this nut is worth cracking.

While I am sure this thought would have occurred to other recruiters before. Here is why it probably does not exist.

e.g. If a TCS Hires 20,000 people a year that means a direct bottom line impact of $20 mm a year.
Offer Acceptance Rate for any firm is at best 70% so this means $6 mm is definitely going to get wasted. This argument is enough for any Indian firm to not go down the route no matter how great the outcome because at best it would just be a hypothesis at this point. Will a TCS spend $20 mm to test a Hypothesis? Maybe.

Aditya,
Thanks for your feedback.
1) These numbers shouldn't be analyzed in absolute terms. They have to be compared with the current recruitment cost. Let us say current recruitment costs at TCS are $50 million. Is $6mn(12% higher) to improve recruitment effectiveness a lot?
2) This applies only to experienced hire. Recruiters charge 2-3 months of salary for experienced hires. Are the existing costs going to dramatically change?

CP
P.S. The amount was just a hypothetical number. For india the number would be atleast 50% and for junior levels even less.

CP you make a good point on relative percentages. However, that's a board level sale. Unless, that's where u are pitching it may not work as a startup idea. If we get an anchor for the idea then maybe worth considering.

Aditya,

This is not a startup idea. This is what i want to do for my company's recruitment. I was asking for opinion whether it would be effective in getting the right people to apply or not.

Hey if you can afford to give away the checks then surely worth the try.

I feel you should think about the 9 elements model here. It all must start with putting "People on a Mission" rest follows.

Money is a motivation but purpose works above all else. If you can message the purpose better then maybe the same money can be spent on getting the message out wider and deeper.
