Update and developments

Dear Colleagues,

Apologies for the long silence--it was not in vain!.

During the last consultation we held at the Bomas of Kenya, members tasked us to liaise with the current officials of Busia Professionals Association (BUPA), and establish the status of this organisation. This proposal was based on the desire to avoid duplication of effort--by all of us as we work towardsr the development of Busia County. 

The fact finding initiative was designed to determine the status of the Association--before we could join it.

After some effort--I linked up with the Interim committee of BUPA--and we have had several sessions on the current and future status of BUPA. Out these meetings--this is what has emerged:

1.LEGAL STATUS OF BUPA: 

Following vigorous effort, the committee has finally managed to re-instate, BUPA as legally registered Society under the Societies Act.

2.MEMBERSHIP TO BUPA

After protracted deliberations--I managed to convince the committee to open up to young professionals from the County. We also agreed that, young professionals (20-35years), could join at a fee of Ksh 2,500.00 anually, instead of the current rate 5000 K per year.

3. BUPA AGM

As you will note from the attached notice, an AGM is planned on June 18th, 2011. The AGM will elect new offcials to the Association. I mooted a motion demanding that, all former/founding officials of BUPA (including myself), should step down to allow for the injection of new blood in the Association. This was in principle accepted by the committee.

4. FUNDRAISING DINNER

BUPA will hold a fund raising dinner at the UKC, tomorrow, May 31st. All are free to attend. Unfortunately, I am away in the field until Wednesday May, 1st. 

5. COUNTY STRATEGIC PLAN

BUPA has engaged in the development of a strategic plan for the county--all are free to contribute ideas. 

In view of the above positive developments--I would like to propose that members of this Forum seek to join BUPA officially and we sustain our agenda to develop the County, through the Society.

I am attaching the amended constitution of BUPA and notice for the AGM, for all to review.
