From website: "Bushwick Open Studios is a community festival, open to
anyone who wants to participate – the only restriction is, whatever
you’re doing must take place within the map boundaries, during the
hours of the Festival (the evening of Friday, June 4, 2010 through the
evening of Sunday, June 6, 2010)"
Question: For a venue to register as part of BOS, do they have to be
open for all of the hours of the BOS event or just during part of the
BOS event hours?
I have artist residency at local senior citizen center and I am in
discussion with them regarding my installing a show there for a month
coinciding with BOS and for them to be a BOS registered venue. It
would be a nice opportunity to encourage interaction between the
facility, its residents, the artist community and general public at
large.
They are usually open only during the week and have agreed to be open
on the Saturday of BOS. I hadn't discussed with them being open Friday
night and Sunday also since, in the past, I think venues didn't have
to be open entire time. For them, it may involve additional staffing.
Or they may be receptive to just having artists overlap and being
present. I am going over there today and before discussing anything
with them further on this, I need clarification. Thanks very much!
Having an exhibit It would be a great opportunity to have interaction
between a Bushwick facility with its residents, the artist community
and general public.
