Okay . . . I am doing some hands on editing now. I have made NO changes in the google doc -- all my thoughts are below, and they are for clarity and flow:
Arts in Bushwick presents Bushwick Open Studios and
Art Festival, June 4-6th, 2010:a volunteer-organized
event to celebrates the thriving local arts scene and build bridges
within a dynamic community.Arts in Bushwick is
pleased to announce that the Bushwick Open Studios and Arts
Festival is back and bigger than ever. Now in its fourth year, BOS '10 invites visual
artists, performers, musicians, designers, and the public to
celebrate creative expression together in the one of the most vital arts
districts in New York City. Bushwick is the home to cutting-edge
artists, galleries, and collectives and regularly receives write-ups and
mentions in major news outlets such as The Washington Post, The New
York Times, New York Magazine, and Time Out: New York. Throughout its
industrial warehouses and residential blocks, creative activity has
continued to grow and flourish despite the recent economic
downturn. Arts in Bushwick encourages this growth by fostering collaborative, community-based
projects. More than 500 artists are involved with BOS '10: 300 individual will open their doors for the weekend, and the festival will also include over 150 time specific events.
Bushwick Open Studios takes place over 3 square miles,
including parts of East Williamsburg, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Ridgewood.
To unite the area, AIB has designated Informational Hubs close to
subway and bus lines to serve as a resource for visitors. AIB volunteers
will staff the Hubs and provide maps, promotional materials and info
about studios and activities. Hubs include: English Kills,
3rd Ward, ISCP, Goodbye Blue Monday,
Main Drag Music, Lumenhouse, Palmetto AIR, Norte Maar, Camel, Famous Accountants, Wyckoff Starr, Green Rhino, Junto Meeting Place, and Fort Useless.
For a taste of the festival weekend, please visit the BOS Preview and Benefit Art Sale on Friday, May 21 from 7:30 - 10 PM at Lumenhouse. The Benefit will include the work of more than 50 participating artists, priced affordably from $50 - 200. This is a “cash & carry” event: artwork will be sold right off the walls. All proceeds benefit Arts in Bushwick and help make BOS possible.
The BOS weekend starts on the evening of June 4 with gallery openings and an Opening Night Party at Beauty Bar at
10pm, featuring DJ's Shimmy, Captain Heartlock and Cowboy Mark spinning
garage, rockabilly and soul. On June 5 and 6, participating artists will open their studios from 12 - 7pm (check the
program or web site for individual studios' hours and event times).
Visitors will have the opportunity to view an impressive variety of work by hundreds of artists, as well as to meet and talk with the artists directly.
Profiles of participating artists are featured here:

The official BOS group show, "Seeking Space," will also be open from 12 - 7 pm on June 5 and 6, in a 3000+ square foot loft
space above Talas art store.
In conjunction with the open studios and events, the BOS music
festival will take place on June 5 and 6 at Goodbye Blue Monday, where 18 bands and one
hula hoop act will perform. The annual
BOS Cabaret will take place on the evening of June 5, featuring a variety of music, dance, performance, puppetry,
and interactive installations. Doors open at 7pm at 319 Scholes.
Come celebrate the end of the weekend at the BOS Closing Party on Sunday, June 6th, 9pm-midnight at 330 Melrose
St, 3rd Floor. All are welcome, and admission is free with a festival
program.
Arts in Bushwick is a diverse, all-volunteer
organization that serves and engages artists and other neighborhood
residents through creative accessibility and community organizing. In the spirit of this mission, BOS 2010
will feature a community event on Saturday afternoon at 1pm
at Lumenhouse entitled "Bushwick in 2010: Where are we now, where have
we been, and where are we going?" This forum will bring together
the creative community, affordable housing advocates, local business,
industry, and other neighborhood stakeholders to address issues of
sustainability, displacement and neighborhood change. All are invited to
attend, listen, and join in the discussion.
