This has nothing to do with BOS, but I wanted to pass this message
sent to AIB on Facebook along to others in case anyone's interested:
Dear Arts In Bushwick,
I am applying to curate MATA's Interval concert in Brooklyn for one of
three possible dates: October 28th, January 13th, and March 10th. I'm
gathering up to six composers, visual artists, and choreographers
between ages 18 and 39 who also identify as people of color to develop
new or revisited small-ensemble pieces (any style) for the show.
The program would focus on POC artists not as victims in the margins
but as bridges across boundaries. Many of us transgress boundaries of
race, culture, and class as artists in Eurocentric, male-dominated
fields, and our works, in capturing some of the energy released in
confronting these boundaries, demands attention in this era of
globalization and unregulated markets. We would work in a collective-
based format, so the title and shape of the program will be chosen by
the whole group.
If anyone in your group might be interested in collaborating on a
project like this, please let me know or pass on my contact. No one
has to commit until I get one of the dates, so I just need bios and
work samples for the proposal. The sponsor would provide some artist
fees.
Thanks so much for your time and attention.
