Wanted to get the ball rolling on volunteer assignment - sorry this is
a bit disjointed, I'm
running on very little sleep. ;)
ASSIGNING VOLUNTEERS - GENERAL NOTES
Generally speaking, we want to get as many people volunteering during
the weekend as can possibly do it, since there are some folks who
won't be able to do anything during the weekend of the event and will
need to have jobs (like flyering) that happen beforehand. Benefit is
also a good option for folks who can't volunteer during the BOS
weekend.
VOLUNTEER SLOTS
I know we need to put together the full spec of volunteer needs - I
think this should be a main goal of the meeting this coming Monday.
Generally, we need staff for (and please, correct me if i'm missing
anything):
EVENTS:
Benefit (May 21st) - need more info from Tara and Ali
Cabaret (saturday of BOS weekend) - need more info from Manda and Danielle
Closing party on Sunday of BOS weekend - maybe 2-4 people to help out
generally, run the bar, etc.
Flyering beforehand, almost weekly basis - we have six flyer routes
which Tara manages, which will need to be done almost weekly through
BOS. It seems like one 5-hour commitment is doing a given route maybe
3 times. So, assuming we do 4-5 more rounds of flyering, that would
be... about 8-10 people total, each doing a route 3 times?
Hub support/staffing during BOS - we can probably accomodate as many
people as we can
get to do shifts at the major hubs. We need to discuss bare minimum
numbers and priorities as the hubs get nailed down.
Other volunteering - people working on teams like press/PR,
fundraising, etc doing other substantive projects are also covered -
people with interests or skills in specific areas can get sent to the
appropriate team lead.
