Constructing a Format

   Yes your points would most certainly be helpful, im not sure if you'd be able to scan it and send it...or maybe i read your email incorrectly.

Today we thought that we should break up the parts and divide the work, but im not sure how we're going to actually split the work...like who does what sort of a thing.

Awesome. I could do a deep dive on the theory elements and the core competence surrounding disney it is in aligned with the HBR and Venkat you could always add to it.  I will type it up I scribble my thoughts on the back of the case   Also the culture and synergy issues as it relates to our central issue.  These were the major areas of focus for me   Theoretically the credibility from a numbers perspective would come from Chirag and Venkat so I would want to focus on other exhibits to build on the above.   Would that work. I'd  be more comfortable doing the theory parts of it as well. Today we discussed corporate strategy vs. business strategy in class and i was wondering if that might lead us into disney not having an effective corporate strategy in terms of being able to handle multiple businesses, or diversifying into multiple business lines. I will look at the strategic fit between disney as a company and the various businesses it has expanded into and how  some of them create value for the company while others do not.

But I'd be more than happy to take care of any qualitative parts of the case..only because Im not a pro like Chirag with the numbers!!!!

Can someone assign a portion for each one of us?  I dont mind work on any part.  But the one thing I wanted to understand is are we positioning it to be a problem of M&A or a problem of expanding incorrectly.  Please clarify and then split the work.

We are not positioning it to be an M&A problem but maybe we could include that in the analysis?

I'm working on the problem and the analysis of the reasons why that is the problem. I'll do the recommendations but its just that its hard to split the work because there are so many overlapping areas.One things kind of leads to the other...but ina  way thats good because we'll just be covering a broader area.

After last night class...and a long discussion on "Corporate Vs. Business Policy"...I think we are on right track..our central issue could be s'thing like this..

 

"Inappropriate corporate strategy for growth".... please add/edit to it....

 

Venkat, you are right. We should meet 2moro as early as possible. so, we have saturday evening free for family and also we get get 1.5 days to do our respective work for case. I can reach there at 11 am... I know Saturday morning but just once n forever...all of us are graduating.... ;-) 

 

We could do following 2moro:

 

(1) First 1 hour discussing final thoughts n wt goes on slides...

(2) Making some beauty piece ppt using cooliris etc...

I know many of you are good in making nice n creative 'Power point"...n decide on who is going to speak what...

(3) If possible... practice in the presentation room in library builidng 6th floor...or we can do it on the day of presentation...

(4) Finally, we can divide, who is going to write what for the paper submission...actually we can simply divide as per the speech...

 

I will reach library at 11-11.30 a.m ( irrespective of what group decides..I will be reading for my CFA).... Let me know if it is good for all...if some one is not able to come by that time....rest of us can start working on making ppt...

yes i think the corp strategy part is a good addition to it because the articles are supposed to lead into the case.

I will be in the library latest by 12....will try and get there at 11:30 though.
