have two vacancies in our project “For children and youth in Usti nad
Labem IV” and we would like to apply for the 1st of June 2011 deadline.

Hosting
organisation is local non-profit organisation YMCA v Usti nad Labem a
the project takes place in this city. We usually host 3 volunteers at
the same time.
Tasks
Project
activities are set according to volunteer`s and organisation`s needs
individually and usually every volunteer participate in two or three
different activities: 1) Youth club Orion is usually main activity for
volunteer. Youth club Orion is a drop-in centre for children and youth
from 12 to 18. The volunteer will help with the regular running of the
club. He/she will spend most of the time participating in free time
activities with children and youth in the club and help social workers
in preparing and running activities and offered social services. Free
time activities involve: table soccer and tennis, desktop games,
juggling equipment, basic painting and communication with youth in
club. He/she can also organize and lead some basic educational
activities: learning English, small workshops, etc. 2) Climbing wall
assistance - He/she will help with the regular running of the
commercial climbing wall for public. The activity is being closed
during winter months. 3) Mother `s centre assistance - Volunteer will
work in one of our mother`s centre and will help with running the
centre or its activities for infants, small children and their
families. Main activities are for children between 2 to 6 years. 4)
TenSing group – The volunteer will participate in preparing and leading
TenSing group in cooperation with Czech leaders. Musical experience and
skills are required. Previous experience with TenSing is welcomed. More

country” club - Volunteer has an opportunity and our support to
organize and lead his/her own activity about his/her country, language,
culture, food, etc. This activity is usually open to the public and
takes place each week or twice in a month. 6) Other irregular
activities – Volunteer will help with organizing and running short-term
activities and projects, which includes concerts, exhibitions,
tournaments, lectures, free time actions, trips and especially
promotion activities.
Criteria
The
volunteer should fulfil certain criteria, which are essential for
success of his/her EVS project in our organisation. Volunteer should be
a communicative, responsible person, who is able to meet agreed tasks
and schedule. Basic communication language with volunteers is English
and is recommended to be able to understand and speak basic level of
English. We also expect volunteers to be open for participating in
temporary activities during the year and to have a partially flexible
working schedule. The project is very suitable for volunteers, who are
interested in work with children and youth in general or in more
specific topic: social work, musical activities, infants and small
children.
