  ART – Associação de Residentes de Telheiras (Lisbon neighbourhood), is a Telheiras resident’s association that exists since 1988 and its aims are to foster the neighborhood’s development, influencing political decisions, promoting social activities, and having a positive direct and indirect impact in the neighbourhood's environment.
  
  different kinds of actions:
  - Regular activities: tai-chi, guitar classes, choir, amateur theatre, yoga, painting
  - Intervention groups: solidarity, transition (discussion and intervention about environmental impact), elderly in action (regular and punctual activities to the retired population)
  - Events: festivals, blood donations, lectures, diverse workshops
  We work mostly with residents from the neighborhood of Telheiras but not only. As we promote many and diversified activities, our target group varies from children to elders.
  Our staff is mostly formed by volunteers and consists of 5 elements from the board: from 23 to 65 years old; 3 part time volunteers in the secretariat (one of them is almost full-time based retired teacher who has more than 35 years of teaching experience); and a dozen others coordinating each activity, not including group works.
  

Tasks

Typical activities for the volunteers: - Receive and provide information about Art Telheira’s projects to local people and new associates; - Search and collect information as well as answer to requests of information through other channels of communication; - Collaborate for updating the Association’s website with contents; - Support in daily management and simple administrative procedures of Art Telheiras’s projects, both indoors and outdoors; - Collaborate for the implementation of events such as: • The monthly lecture (helping setting the stage, choosing the themes and speakers, etc); • Neighbourhood festivals (held 2-3 times per year) where music, dance, sports, culture are all put together in a big “street social party”; • Exhibition and production of series of short films (and photographs) about the neighborhood, his residents, commerce and activities. - Support in the organization of social and cultural events for the local community held in partnership with the Local Parish administration, Carnide Council of Youth and other municipality partners Our organisation has open mind and intends to support the volunteers to create his/her own events or initiatives. We believe that new ideas are one of the big advantages of bringing someone to our organisation. Therefore, new perspectives and project proposals from the volunteers are always welcomed.

Criteria

Art Telheiras would like to host pro-active volunteers, aged 18-30 years, who bring his/hers own ideas and opinions and that are able to jump into this journey that is a neighborhood association – with energy to colaborate with actual projects but also create new ones. It is not required to have any particular degree of formal education, the project is open to all volunteers who show to have interest in social and environmental actual and practical issues and are willing to be part of the process of change in the course of nowadays society tackling against isolation and environmental negligence. They could also enjoy communication issues like writing articles about his/her experience and make image records – video and photo.

Procedure

all the candidates it is requested to send by email a CV and a specific project Motivation Letter in english to spin.a...@gmail.com. In some cases there may be arranged an internet conference call for getting to know the volunteers better and evaluate their aspirations as well as explaining in detail the project activities, logistics and environment. Selection of volunteers will be made by members of the Coordinating Organization and the Hosting organization according to volunteer’s motivation and personal interests while adopting a democratic decision-making process. In the selection it is particularly taken into account the attempt to privilege those the team of selectors believe would benefit more from this specific EVS experience.
