Hi there,
My name is Robyn, from Adelaide Australia.
I am searching my family history and I'm not sure if your
Burrows-of-WoodbridgeSuffolk are related to me, but I thought I would try
anyway.
The Burrows family that I am searching for is: Anna victoria Burrows b
8/12/1861 in Willaston South Australia - she was the daughter of William
Frederick? Burrows b c 1829 in England ?? He married Mary Ellen Crossman b
1838.
They obviously emigrated to Australia - I believe they were originally from
Somerset and traveled from Plymouth on the Henry Moore, arriving here on
13/9/1857 and were Church of England religion. They came here with a
daughter Caroline who was born in c1856.
The story goes that William was actually a negroe - or at least part negroe,
but from England. I am trying firstly to see if I can find the family, and
also to confirm if this was true.
We have a photo of Anna - and she does indeed look like she could be. The
problem is, it is one of those photos that they painted - and therefore not
true to the photo, if you know what I mean.
I don't have a lot of information, however by chance if this could be part
of your family, please contact me - I would be grateful.
Thankyou
Robyn

Hi,Robyn,Great to hear from you.I don't know if you've
heard of www.genesreunited.co.uk but it's a free site
to build your family tree on and for a small charge
you can send and receive emails from possible
relatives. You could see my tree,if you asked me and
you were subscribed..just an idea.
My great granddad was Samuel Burrows from
Woodbridge,born about 1831 ,he travelled quite a
bit,spending time in New Jersey.
Do yu have any idea at all where Frederick was
born? You can now go on www.ancestry.co.uk and look at
births, marriages and deaths for free.Remember that it
was only after 1837 that official records were kept
here. You have to go to church or parish records for
stuff pre-1837.Please come back to me with furthere
details if you have any.I will be travelling down to
the Woodbridge area in the spring (soon) so if there's
any details you need ,let me know

Bets wishes from a cold England
Chris Burrows
