Dear all, please find attached my comments on Selenas work. She has first
of all made herself understand the conditions of the existing urban
qualities. Then she has neetly used the recognized principles for
structuring the site more or less intuitively. The analysis of this part
can be used partially to illustrate the paragraph of Irvan about
"urbanizing" (taking his wsork as the "backbone" of the group-work).
Principles for the contemporary approaches of the group have been prepared
by the variants, testing the relationship of private built and open
spaces. However, they still have to be defined as architectural principles
in more detail.
Alternatives for the lay out of the site and its edges have unfortunately
not been really developed by her. Criteria for evaluating have
consequently only been related to the existing patterns of urban
conditioins. They need to be derived and applied for the task of
restructuring and urbanizing a former industrial site with different
densities, distribution of uses and hierarchies of public spaces.
