While still sorting out a few dusty boxes from truck loading this weekend, it did come to mind that more than a few folks got their cars towed my the body repair place that claims Rugg Road as a private way.

What was the final count of people who had to come up with the $120 snatch and grab recovery?  From the distances and obscured view, it was more often then not like watching some sureal urban nature show where predatory birds swoop in to snatch away unprotected chicks, happening too fast to have physically prevented it from happening.

In order save Burning Truck participants several hundred dollars and not fund the Tow Truck End of Summer BBQ, a more stringent header should be posted to day of loading and unloading e-mails as well as having a more significant barrel/signage at the gate to let people know that they are taking a hard cash gamble to park and move their stuff before the tow truck comes around again.

Or we could fund a locking picking seminar.  Their storage lot is protected by one chain, one American 5 pin padlock, and only the driver on patrol works at night.

Just sayin'

I for one would have appreciated some warning!  I did see the posted signs, but I flipped on my hazard lights and was only away from my car for about 60 seconds.  My bill was $113 (plus a 5-minute sprint down to 55 Brighton Ave., the other towing company participating in the tow-fest).

I thought later that I ought to have encouraged the tow truck operator to donate the proceeds to charity (after deducting operating expenses), since these were ill-gotten gains, and no good was served by his actions.  Oh sure, we could mount a class-action suit against the towing companies, but I imagine that would just perpetuate their antagonistic frame of mind.

Next time I see you at CBC, beers are on me.  You have been nothing but considerate, thoughtful and helpful pertaining to the containers.
