Nerdy news and alternative gathering possibility at BRC

Hello Nerds,

As the scholarly activity and discussion is on quite low levels, we made a decision not to organise an official Burning Nerds meetup this year. However, if nerds are coming to BRC and wish to meet up, we could organize something small, such as a coffee gathering at Center Camp. It seems that the venue is becoming alive again. Feel free to write here or reply privately to me if you're interested.

Happy to share nerdy news that we, a team of professors affiliated with Oxford University, Universidad de los Andes, and Aalto University, have received funding until 2026 for research that studies organizational forms and decision-making related to participatory strategies. Our qualitative research includes studying a few community-driven tech companies, Wikipedia, and Burning Man as case studies. Except results in a few years.

Hey Burning Nerds!

I'm the construction lead for Black Rock City Census.  We have a Census Lab right in Center Camp plaza.  You could come meet our data scientists and as we like to say in the department "Talk Nerdy To Me!".  They love to talk about data science and there are a number of resident students doing active research projects each year.

I would be willing to help coordinate with this meetup, or perhaps center it around one of our "data bashes" which is like a social mixer followed by informatives talks.
