PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE:

Hey Seattle Blues dancers!

I recently came down with a case of scabies. Scabies are a microscopic mite that burrow under your skin and cause an intchy rash. They are transmittable through prolonged skin-to-sin contact, or through sharing clothes, bedding, towels, etc.

I'm not sure where I picked up the bug, but it is persistent, and much easier to get rid of the earlier you treat it. I may have contracted it from another blues dancer, so I wanted to let the community know about the risk. There is also a chance I could have spread it to other dancers, because the itchy bumps characteristic of scabies can take 4-6 weeks to show up, but they are contagious even before symptoms occur.

Kind of like a common cold, they are passed from person to person. Anyone can get them, and it has nothing to do with hygiene. If you have mysterious itchy bumps, please get them checked out as soon as possible and avoid the dance scene until you're sure they're gone. Also let people you have had close contact with know right away. More information is easy to find through online sources.

Take care!
