Dearest Blues Dancing Community,
We folks at Burn Blue have been informed of a serious situation that could possibly shut Burn Blue down. However, we have a plan and we believe that you, our community, will help us with it.
The situation:
As you may of heard us announce, Burn Blue has been informed that we must charge every patron sales tax on the door admission. We were also informed that we must pay this tax retroactively for all of our time in existence. his sum adds up to $5000, including this year. While we have some funds in the bank, this amount is well beyond those funds. We have accepted a payment plan that allows us to pay this in chunks over the next 4 months.
If we fail to pay this amount, Burn Blue will be shut down.
The plan:
We have dramatically cut costs in the weekly operations of Burn Blue. A move that has been kindly supported by of teachers, DJs, and hosts. We will be focused on marketing to our community and other dance communities in the next few months to bring our attendance up a bit.
Right now, we are planning a series of fundraisers that put the fun in fun-draising! To kick of this series we will be having our first fundraiser at Waid's on December 13th!
The profit from all door admissions will go towards taxes, along with any cash donations we collect. We will be auctioning off local instructors, DJs, and organizers. If you win one of them you could: have dinner with them, talk about what he / she does best in the dance scene, have a private lesson on dancing/DJing/organizing.
What you can do:
Come to the fundraiser, invite a friend (even if he / she doesn't dance, yet), start scheming about which lovely person you are going to win in our lovely people auction.
Thank you for all your support through the best and worst times!
