to Burmilla Breed Standards Discussion Group
If contemplating historical elements when deliberating on a standard,
bear in mind that FIFe recognised at its 1994 GA (effective 1/1/95)
and GCCF recognised in 1997 (same year as ACF, BTW)
My suggestion would be NOT to take a scatter-gun approach, picking
bits and pieces from here and there. Michele and I were part of the
CFA Burmilla standard - adaptation group, and wild cards merely
destabilise whatever progress has been made - 3 steps forward, 2 steps
back. There was one key person involved who was constantly wanting to
modify this or that according to what she'd last read (never mind the
credentials and history with Burmillas of the source organisations!)
and it drove us BANANAS!
Finally, it was decided the most sensible way to get the breed
accepted was to go with the FIFe/ACF standard (the odd word tweaked
into CFA-ese) as any standard which described a silver Euro Burm (such
as GCCF's) would almost guarantee rejection of the Burmilla. It seems
to have worked!
