Hi all,

So far most of the discussions are happening on the sacatsanalyis
group, which I think is super because in that group, other breeders
are also exposed to the breed and seems to enjoy the information and
discussions.

Only 8 people so far joined the group.

I will over time consolidate the discussions according to categories
like history (per country), breed standards (per feature per country),
out-crossing rules (per country), genetics, breeding strategies (what
worked, what to avoid), etc.

Thanks for your support. I truly hope that all these efforts will
assist SA to have a sound strategy in place to breed world class
Burmillas.

Regards,

Alida Delport

Hello Alida

From our side, we are learning a lot - both on this list and on the catanalysis list - and enjoying it immensely.

Gina and I were speaking this morning about how glad we are that all this discussion is coming out, because this is a learning opportunity for many folk about the steps necessary to register a new breed and the considerable research involved. Part of "doing the homework", as I call it - so that all the i's are dotted and t's crossed properly up front - no surprises later!

thanks for allowing us to be a part of the discussions.

Way to go! Well done, "hou moed" as the Afrikaans say - and keep on. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.....

I think it's fabulous that there are eight people already joined up.  When the Tabby Cat Club was founded in the UK covering every breed that had tabby markings allowed, there were only fifteen people at the foundation meeting.  When I became Chairman a few years later, we had over 500 members!

Well said, Alan!  And may the group continue to grow!  Burmillas will be so much easier to own than Chinchillas yet, hopefully, they will have the Chins quieter natures?  My one son has a Burmese and it is quite a handful - but what a loving, purry cat!  So perhaps the combination of the two is what the Cat Fancy needs.  I know I want a Burmilla!

Hi Janet.....the evidence we have from living with our "Peter" is that he has a wicked sense of humour;  is totally unafraid of new people visiting the house;  loves the dogs to pieces (and they him);  plays with great concentration and knows how to retrive balls from under the TV console which is something no other can has ever achieved, and is a nose-licking, toe-chewing, stomach bouncing, purring hot water bottle.  We like him!

I would say that you are "besotted"!  Peter sounds absolutely delightful.
