Excellent approach to a short term/medium term roundabout demonstration.

Yes on RPMs along the red-line defining the apron area.  This actually looks like a perfect short term (days, weeks, months) demonstration roundabout.  Enables trying out geometry, etc.  Would like stronger treatment of pedestrian crossings/median, maybe RPMS or the curbing used in the central island.  The 11,000 vehicles per day is substantial--Main/Spring's Keck Circle in Montpelier downtown area is 12,000 vehicles per day.

Note it is not clear what sidewalks are present and there would need to be some "choice" for bicyclists as the bike "sharrows" could be matched with a bike direction to space between posts and sidewalk/streetside.  Seems plenty of room for cyclists in those protected areas, just need an access onto crosswalks.

This temporary flex-post roundabout will be in place for a year so it will be very interesting to see what the study shows after that period.

  • At only 11,000 ADT, will motorists discover they kind of like that freeflow thing goin’ on?
  • Will pedestrians feel safe with only flex posts to keep cars in their lanes?

And unlike those permanent roundabouts most engineers insist on building, this one can be tweaked any old time just to watch what happens.

  • Might closer-spaced flex posts give it more definition?
  • How about RPMs around the truck apron perimeter?

Given how inexpensive a flex-post roundabout is to install/remove, perhaps researchers could make use of this model for certain types of roundabout research.

I’d also like to see a nighttime photograph of it.
