Subject: RE: update on the two sites for a dog park in the South End
Both of these sites are on land that was purchased for the Southern
Connector. If they are going to be used for another purpose i.e. dog park
on a temporary basis and are prepared to vacate when the connector is built
we can work with either site. It is likely that the Flynn Ave site will be
use during construction of the road, while the wooded site near Home Ave
will probably not be used during construction. If people want to put
resources into a site now, the wooded site makes more sense.
Long term if either parcel is no longer intended to be part of the right of
way i.e. it becomes a park (dog park) then there is a process that we have
to go through for disposing of surplus project property. Using either site
as a park is within the rules and should be approved when the time comes.
Of course zoning permits will be needed for the temporary and long term uses
of these sites.

Subject: update on the two sites for a dog park in the South End
Hi Steve,
The dog park group met this morning and the issue of two possible sites for
a dog area came up. I believe you discussed this with Ed Pais and Joan
Shannon and it was during the height of the snow storm that you had this
conversation. Is there any chance you could give me an update on whether
you think either or both of these sites are workable? Our next meeting is
not until May 9 so please don't rush. I know you have plenty of other
issues to attend to.
Thanks for your time.
Karen
