Hi Folks,

Unless someone expresses a strong objection in the next couple of hours, the attached pdf is the draft that I'll send off to City Hall today.

Thank you very, very much, to those who contributed suggestions about security culture, phrasing, etc that helped shape this document.

Also, barring any strong protests, I think I'll send it via certified mail, so a Miro designee has to actually sign for it, then follow up in a few days with e-mailing the pdf.

I will promptly relay any correspondence via googlegroup.

Thanks again, and it's always great collaborating with you all.

Hi Jake,

That's the original image from the Adbusters poster that called for the 99% to occupy Wall Street.

It is, in the opinions of art critics, historians, and activists across the political spectrum, the signifying icon, the single most recognizable graphic of the Occupy Movement. I dare say that it's damned poetic, too.

I include it because it visually links our correspondence with the historical roots of the Occupy Movement.

Nothing else can so instantaneously identify the bearer with the Occupy Movement.

I humbly request your assent to including it in our letter to the mayor.

In Solidarity,

Bill Oetjen

I'm not blocking. It's just that I didn't understand it so Miro might
feel the same way.

I love the letter btw and enjoy the picture too (aside from the formatting issues, which I assume won't be in the final version.)

One quick grammatical note, shouldn't where the letter reads invites in the opening sentence be invite:  ...formally invite you to a meeting -...?

Ah, Eric Davis, you are a most keen observer.

First, please to suggest any formatting changes you like; I will try to accomodate.   Personal taste is a powerful and unavoidable factor.

Second, note that the object of the first sentence is the Occupy Burlington General Assembly, a collective noun.   In the US, we treat it as singular when attaching tense to the verb.  In Britain, they are likely to treat it as plural, as when they say that a football team "win the championship."

Thanks for the props, BTW.

The formatting I was referring too was that in the draft letter the picture pushes over the first section of the header (everything above Miro) and seemingly that section should all be in line?

Dear Jake,
I very much adore the balance of the picture between very gentle grace atop very powerful natural force ...it is very symbolic of the way our movement is ...very gracefully gentle atop a usually quite peaceful yet very dangerous Nature that provoked must defend itself.

Dear Bill, Thank you for the write up ...it is very nice and formal.

The proposed - and sent, I assume - has a very considerate and welcoming
vibe. I like it.
