propDave, you've just exposed your employer to a legal suit.  I don't think Propeller Media Works will appreciate that.  It is against the law to discriminate by age which you are doing when you write "we're looking for someone who might be young..."  I'll spare you the rational behind the law.

Hey now, let's all be nice :-)

I think it's OK to be critical (constructively) but let's try and be
welcoming new members of the list.

Apparently my post yesterday didn't post.

In any case. I know its part of the fun here, and you all know this,
but Ron - you are absolutely correct. I hope my boss doesn't fire me.
By young, I mean to say that we're looking for someone young in their
career as a programmer, and age is not a discriminating factor.

An entry level to mid level position to pay in the mid 30s to mid 40s
depending on experience and the basic criteria. I know there are
former employees in your group, who may or may not agree, but I try to
pay as much as I can. We provide the best benefits we can. We barbecue
often and when it snows, we ride.

That's the story. If you have more helpful feedback, I'm here.

Guys. I find in life that it's best to assume the best. Dave is not a
bigot. The post is not going to make the news. He wants a programmer with a
career path. Damn. He should not have had to write this apology email
fearing for his job because he used the wrong adjective. We are all
watching FOX news too much. Dave deserves an apology for someone jumping to
an unjust conclusion about his intensions. Lets move on. This is childish.

Ron

Regardless of whether my boss happens to be me or not, you make a good
point.

In this case, I should say that I'd like to find someone "young" in
their programming career - regardless of age. We want to provide the
structure and guidance to grow someone in a more disciplined process
of web/application development.

To Craig's point. "They" (me) are not making a million bucks and have
very real financial constraints. I believe we've always paid market
rates and have been ahead of the pack when its come to benefits. I'm
not looking to hire a sr developer and pay him the rate of a jr
developer.

At Propeller, we're in the process of a fundamental shift - ground-up
restructuring of both the team, the tools, and the methods. We have a
lot of work though, and we need more resources.

Thanks
